Notes:
The interactive nature of a task-based data collection protocol requires the data collector to be in close proximity to the worker being monitored. The procedure would be difficult or impractical where the presence of the collector could result in an unsafe condition or result in abnormal task performance. Examples include mobile lift truck or heavy equipment operators and underground mining operations. In these cases dosimetry is used.
The quality of the data collected is closely related to the training and experience of the data collector. Judgment of task duration and development of profiles in highly variable work environments are also major factors that can affect data integrity.
As a safeguard S12.19 calls for a data collector to be proficient in the procedures.
As another safeguard in profiling, the extensive interview and documentation requirements facilitate the tracking of questionable data during review.
