Let's now move to the task-based data collection method.
This involves developing sound exposure profiles for each job function. The first step is to determine the tasks that comprise the representative work assignment.
The tasks must include all exposure conditions that could occur in their relative proportion to the way they occur over the typical work shift.
The list of tasks is developed based on an understanding of the job under study through observation, and interview time with supervisors and workers. The supervisor must provide information about what the job entails and the amount of time spent on each activity. Emphasis is placed on long term activity - not what occurs on a specific day.
