This presentation covers the application of sound exposure profiling as a method to assess noise exposure risk in the workplace. The procedure meets the design requirements for a sampling strategy specified in the regulation by minimizing the possibility of failing to identify workers who must be included in a hearing conservation program. It provides information keyed to the organizational structure of the work place. Therefore, it can facilitate the tracking of worker exposure over an entire work history. The task-based data collection method provides descriptive information that is useful beyond simply assessing exposure risk.
